My sister and I went in on a Wednesday evening around 6:00pm. The interior is very nicely remodeled and well thought out. The music was just a bit louder than I would prefer. On the menu, a ribeye steak is advertised for $22.00. Not a bad price, but there is no weight mentioned, so...what exactly am I getting for my money? I was offered a potato, mixed vegetable or wild rice as a side item. No starch plus vegetable (?) well, OK... The mention of a “mixed vegetable” immediately brought to mind something pulled out of the freezer, instead of fresh. I opted for the wild rice. Well, the steak was done to my liking (medium rare) with a nice charred exterior. The wild rice was, in a word, gross. Pimentos and corn in wild rice? Not good. My sister sampled it and readily agreed. As far as the wait staff... I got the impression most of the wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Indeed, a friendly girl approached and said she would be our server, only to be interrupted by an older, bespectacled gentleman gesticulating wildly behind our backs that he was to be our server. She politely excused herself, and he approached. I would expect someone of his age to be experienced, friendly and knowledgeable. I was sadly mistaken. When we placed our drink orders, I asked for a large glass of water, as I was driving that evening. Now I know it's not standard practice (wish I knew why!!) for a restaurant to issue a straw with a glass of ice water as they would a glass of iced tea or coke. He dropped our drinks and left so abruptly, I had no chance to request a straw. When he returned, I asked if I might have one, and he brought me a tiny little cocktail stirrer that would have sank into the glass and disappeared. He had to be joking. Next time he came by (he never stayed for very long), I jokingly, but pleasantly requested a “real straw” for my water. He instantly exclaimed “That IS a real straw!”. I looked around at another table and spied a patron with a coke and gestured toward his straw-"May I have a straw like that one?”. “Well, that's a COKE straw!”, he retorted. “What??!”, I thought to myself. “May I please have one for my water?”, I asked politely. He stomped off in a huff. I truly don't understand such behavior in this type of restaurant. He came back, dropped off the straw and said “Well, the boss says we have to give those little straws out for the water and I don't make the rules!”. I did not even know how to respond to that one. When he dropped off any food or beverage after that, he said absolutely nothing. We're used to the little touches at better restaurants, but this fellow lacked severely in that department. One server dropped by to pick up a stray plate and was so NICE compared to the past 45 minutes with our server. We habitually reward good service with better than a 20% tip. We left this gentleman 15%, and that was generous for the treatment we received. We also stuck his little cocktail straw in with the receipt. We're not sure if he understood that little gesture. IF we were to return this restaurant (not likely), we would request that he NOT be our server. Disappointing, to say the least, of a nice looking restaurant with so much potential.";s:7:"updated";s:10:"1234058754";s:9:"confirmed";s:3:"yes";s:10:"totalScore";d:28;}}
